@George-K said in The Democrat Party Trifecta: @Horace said in The Democrat Party Trifecta: Oh. I thought they were appointed to something or other. Oh s/he'll lose that appointment, but still have a job that pays the same with the same bennies. The political appointment and the platform it provides, is the concern. I don’t want trans people to lose their jobs.

At the university, we made allowances who gas-passers who didn't want to give anesthesia for what we euphemistically called "D & E's" (dilation and extraction). It caused a bit of a problem with room assignments, but we did it. At the community hospital where I retired from abortions were not done as a matter of policy. That hospital is now on its 4th (?) owner since 1990, so I don't know if abortions are done now.

Wouldn't surprise me, although I'd peg her more as a pothead.

Most likely just one or a few paid canvassers fabricating registration requests trying to make more money rather than part of some grand scheme to stuff fraudulent ballots later.

“Chair fly” is almost as cool as “air guitar.”

@89th said in Burned or Buried?: When you die, what are you picking? As a kid I mostly thought everyone was buried, so I've always had that expectation. Recently found out my wife (and her parents) prefer cremation. I can also sense @Copper 's indifferent reaction to this! Buried. I'm freaking 6'4".* It would be a terrible insult to the zombie community if I didn't make my body available post-mortem. *maybe 6'3" with my shoes off as @jon-nyc would be fond of pointing out but I don't give a shit, the point is, I'd make a good zombie.

https://www.popsci.com/environment/burmese-python-mouth-size/ Bartoszek and colleagues recently got hands on to measure a trio of captured snakes measuring 15-, 17-, and 19-feet-long. Although previously examined pythons have been documented with mouth gape diameters as wide as 8.7 in, the largest of the study’s pythons could extend their gape to 10.2-in-wide. @taiwan_girl said in Everything is Awesome: @kluurs said in Everything is Awesome: And about to get much worse thanks to AI and robotic Not just a question for Kluurs, but how much difference with either a Trump or Harris president make? Inflation is low right now. There is not going to be deflation, no matter who is president. Lets say it stays at 2%. Unemployment is low. Now, people can argue about if the numbers are correct - if it is undercount, etc. Things are going to happen in the world that the US cannot control. They could make things for the US economy better or worse. The economy cycles. Economy goes up, eventually goes down. Best case is a "divided" government for the economy, Yes, divided government always works. Neither yin nor yang. No George Washington. No Abraham Lincoln. No FDR. What a wonderful world it would be!

It's easy to say that now - but we'll never know what was truly in your heart when you wrote that. Personally, I give you the benefit of the doubt. But I simply cannot control the hearts and minds of our millions of readers.

@89th said in If Trump is elected...: @Jolly said in If Trump is elected...: Are there any lessons the Dems should learn from it? Yeah, that women candidates lose to Trump! Yeah, he's beaten almost as many women as Doug Emhoff.

Interesting analysis. The same sort of thing kind of goes on with patents. I met a guy who had hundreds of patents, but in looking closer, he was head of a research group, and if anyone in his group applied for a patent, he stuck his name on it also.

If your travel schedule makes maintaining the system unrealistic, then you'd do just as well to leave it unplugged altogether. A/C does help some in the summer...but there are often stretches where the humidity is high..but the temps aren't. Humidispray systems (that are only on when the furnace is on) are certainly much better than nothing. But in the northeast, the temperature frequently gets far below what would be a safe level of humidity to add indoors. So the system still helps quite a bit in those cases.

Political answer to a political problem. Trudeau Liberals are desperate to gain some popular support. It’s futile. They will not form the next government.
